At Wrong Direction Farm, we've chosen to go in a different direction from the way most food is produced. We wanted food that we'd be satisfied in eating, food we'd be confident in sharing with others. On our family's farm, we pasture raise Certified Organic chickens and turkeys. We also raise a herd of grassfed beef cattle. All our products are available for home delivery throughout the Northeast (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). Organic Certification by NOFA-NY.
We graze our beef cattle year round on our farm's pastures. During the growing season we rotate them daily to fresh pasture. During the winter we bring the grass to the cattle in the form of bales of hay (grass we've mowed the previous year and baled up for storage until it is needed during the winter). Only feeding grass, rather than grain or grain byproducts, means that the cattle don't grow as quickly as feedlot cattle, but their taste is superior and the nutrition of the beef is unmatched.
We raise our certified organic chickens on our pastures, moving them to fresh grass to ensure that the chickens are always able to forage for bugs and plants as they move about our farm.
Grass fed lamb, raised by our friends at Cairncrest Farm with great attentiveness to managing their pastures in a regenerative manner.
Pasture and woodlot-raised pigs, fed a locally-grown non-GMO feed.
We raise a flock of certified organic turkeys on our grass pastures. The turkeys have lots of room to move about their pasture, and we herd them to fresh pastures to ensure that the grass quality is peak. Turkeys eat both bugs and plants, but they focus less on bugs and more on the plants than chickens do, so pasture management is very important for turkeys. Available both as whole turkeys for Thanksgiving, and as ground turkey and individual cuts year round.
We get our grass fed butter from Kriemhild Dairy Farms. Kriemhild is a local dairy specializing in high quality full-fat, and cultured dairy foods. Their premier product is made by slowly churning fresh sweet cream into an 85% butterfat, resulting in a creamy, flavorful butter.
We sell maple syrup produced near us by the Mast Family in Fultonville NY. They do a spectacular job with their maple syrup and we're glad to have them as partners.
